LAN & Fibre
Installation Technician

Minimum requirements

• Reside in Louis Trichardt or surrounding areas within a 30 km radius.
• At least five years' practical LAN and fibre installation experience.
• Valid Molex Certified Installer certification, with evidence of the applicable copper and fibre scope.
• Matric or equivalent, plus a relevant qualification or recognised training in networking, telecommunications or structured cabling.
• Cat6/Cat6A installation, termination, patch panels, data outlets and cabinet organisation.
• Fibre preparation, fusion splicing, termination and fault-finding.
• Ability to use copper cable certification equipment, an optical power meter/light source and an OTDR, and interpret results.
• Ability to read drawings, label cables and prepare test reports and handover documentation.
• Ability to conduct site surveys and assess LAN and fibre installation requirements.
• Reliable transport and ability to work independently.

Advantage: CFOT or equivalent recognised fibre certification, and experience configuring switches and wireless access points.

Responsibilities

Conduct site surveys, identify cable routes, measure installation requirements and document findings; install LAN points, cabinets and fibre links; terminate, splice, label and test cabling; rectify faults; produce cable schedules and installation records; follow site safety requirements and manufacturer standards.
